Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What types of procedures does APF cover?

A. Non critical elective surgery. Typically dental, cosmetic enhancement and Laser Vision correction.

Q. How do I find a doctor in my area?

A. We have a database of registered specialists and can refer you directly to your nearest specialist or if you have a preferred doctor please let us know so we can talk to them about registering with us.

Q. How much will my procedure cost?

A. Australian Patient Finance does not set the pricing for any procedure; we offer financing to you so you can afford to have the procedure you want done now. Contact your doctor/practice to discuss their charges for the procedure, and then phone us to arrange the finance.

Q. How much are the repayments likely to be?

A. This depends on the size and term of the loan. For example a $10,000 procedure repaid over 5 years amounts to monthly payments of $240* Click here to calculate your repayments.

* Monthly repayments are approximate and for information purposes only. Example is based on repaying the amount financed plus interest at 14.50% over 5 years. To view the comparison rate, click the following link Comparison rate schedule (pdf 54Kb).

Q. How do I apply for patient financing?

A. Talk to your doctor/practice, get a quote for the procedure and then call us on 1300 737 059. Most applications are approved with just one phone call.

Q. What if the doctor I am seeking treatment from is not registered with APF?

A. They can register with us and if they meet our accreditation policy guidelines we will include them on our database. Simply ask your practice to contact us and we will arrange to register them.

Q. What information do I need to have with me to apply?

A. We will need your driver’s licence number, the rest (your address, who you work for, how much you earn etc.) should all be easy info for you to provide.

Q. How do I get the loan document to sign?

A. We will fax, email or express post it to you already filled in and just needing your signature. Your doctor’s office will give you a booklet explaining the loan and containing the terms and conditions.

Q. Do I have to make a large deposit?

A. We try to approve all our loans with no deposit. Depending on your own unique circumstances there may be times that we have to ask for a deposit in order to approve it, however it is unusual for us to have to ask for this.

Q. Do you take security over my house or other assets?

A. No, this is an unsecured personal loan.

Q. How long is the loan for?

A. You can choose the term to suit you - between 2 to 5 years. The longer it is over the lower your monthly repayments will be.

Q. Can I pay it out at any time?

A. Yes you can pay it out at any time, however an administration fee will be charged.

Q. Can I use my credit card to make the payments?

A. No, Direct debit from a bank account is our only payment available.
